Salvatore Izzo

This is Salvatore. Sal is a little boy with a heart of gold and an infectious laugh. He loves climbing, jumping and watching his favorite show Puppy Dog Pals. He enjoys playing outside, going for car rides with his daddy and singing songs with his mommy. He loves his team of therapists that continue to work with him daily and help him succeed.

In August of 2020 Sal was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We, as his parents, have done everything we can to support Sals development and assist him in reaching his potential. He was enrolled in early intervention which he has recently aged out of. He is currently attending 32 hours of therapy a week which includes Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy, Speech therapy and Occupational therapy. Since his diagnosis, Sal has been involved in raising money for his community Autism non-profit programs. We’ve embraced his diagnosis and continue to spread the word and love that comes with Autism. Sal needs emotional and physical support with day to day activities which leads us to why we are fundraising.

We applied to 4 Paws for Ability and completed the application process which included medical documentation, letters of recommendation and other approvals in order to get Sal a service dog. Sal has been approved for the program and now we have agreed to raise $17,000 for 4 Paws for Ability. Training a service dog to meet the requirements can be VERY costly.  On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. We have a goal of raising $17,000.00 for our portion of Sals service dog.

Sal has been approved for a multi-purpose service dog that will help him and improve his way of life.  The dog will help him through training to interrupt an escalation or meltdown, follow him during elopement episodes, detect anxiety and apply deep pressure and encourage some social interactions. In addition, this will give Sal a non-judgmental, 24/7 friend who will love him unconditionally and show him that he is truly loved. We believe this will help Sal become more independent and successful in life.
