Thomas Holbrook

This is Thomas Holbrook and he is 8 years old. Thomas has been diagnosed with intractable multi-focal epilepsy. He began having seizures when he was 5 years old. He loves to play outside with his little brother and big sister. He loves playing video games as well. Thomas loves all animals. Thomas has been hospitalized numerous times for epilepsy related issues and still requires numerous extended hospital stays which upset and scare him. He has a Vagas Nerve Stimulator (VNS) implanted in his chest and a Responsive Neurostimulation System (RNS) implanted in his head. Even though both of his implants have helped with his seizures, he still experiences frequent seizures and does not have the
independence that he wants so badly. Thomas has asked for a service dog for so long and his Neurologist has recommended a service dog for him as well. Currently Thomas is unable to sleep by himself or go to the bathroom unaccompanied. A service dog would give him the independence to sleep in his own room or go to the bathroom without his mom or dad having to accompany him. When Thomas has a seizure, he is frequently paralyzed in one side for up to several hours. This upsets Thomas and a service dog can give him comfort after a seizure. Our family would appreciate any help to cover the cost of a service dog for Thomas. Thank you for your consideration.
