“We have the treats!” | Local Arby’s Has One Happy Customer

At 4 Paws for Ability, we’re constantly amazed by the creative ways our community rallies to support our mission. Sometimes, it’s through big events or long-term partnerships, and other times, it starts with something as simple as a conversation in a drive-thru.

One of our dedicated volunteers, Kathy, recently shared a story that perfectly illustrates the power of small moments and big hearts:

“If you’ve ever thought that your fast food habits were just a guilty pleasure, think again! Sometimes, those cravings can lead to something much more meaningful. Recently, while enjoying a drive-thru visit at the Centerville Arby’s with my furry companion, Wilbur, I stumbled upon a delightful opportunity to make a difference for 4 Paws for Ability.

As we waited for our order, a sign caught our eye: it was promoting a round-up program to support ‘Crayons for Classrooms.’ Intrigued, I inquired at the pickup window about how the charities are selected. Kaleb Williams, a young and enthusiastic employee, explained the process: employees nominate organizations they’re passionate about, and then they have a vote to decide which charity will benefit from the round-up.

This sparked an idea! I couldn’t help but share my passion for 4 Paws for Ability, a fantastic organization that provides service dogs to children with disabilities. While I enthusiastically shared about the incredible work they do, Wilbur, ever the charismatic pup, turned on his charm, wagging his tail and winning over hearts.

Fast forward to my next visit to Arby’s, and I was thrilled to see that the round-up sign now featured 4 Paws for Ability! It was a proud moment that underscored the power of conversation and connection. When I asked who had nominated the organization, the answer was pure serendipity: Kaleb Williams had taken my words to heart and put forth 4 Paws for Ability as a candidate!

This experience has taught me a valuable lesson: you never know how a simple chat can lead to a meaningful impact. Whether you’re at the drive-thru or chatting with friends, take the opportunity to share your passion for causes that matter to you.

So, my fellow advocates, let’s continue to spread the word about 4 Paws for Ability and all the amazing work they do for children in need of support. Remember, every conversation counts, and you might just inspire someone to take action.”

This heartwarming experience didn’t just result in much-needed funds for 4 Paws for Ability—it also highlighted how sharing your passion for a cause can spark meaningful change. Kathy’s simple conversation inspired the Centerville Arby’s team to take action, and their round-up fundraiser became a beautiful example of how small efforts add up to big impact.

The story came full circle when service dog-in-training, Kanga, made a special visit to the Centerville Arby’s to thank the staff personally and receive the donation. The team couldn’t resist her charm and even treated her to a snack as they quipped, “We have the treats!”—a fun nod to Arby’s famous tagline, “We have the meats.”

Moments like these remind us of the incredible things we can accomplish together. Whether you’re rounding up your total, volunteering, or simply sharing our mission with someone new, your actions matter.
