Onsite Volunteers, The Graber Family

As a military family, it can be hard to find a new place that feels like home when moving so often. When we found 4 Paws for Ability, we found a local home and also something we enjoyed doing as a family. It’s not always easy to find a place that is welcoming or easy to volunteer at with young children, but at 4 Paws for Ability my kids were embraced and engaged in the work of raising service dogs for others.

My children have learned how to have compassion and about the abilities in all of us. They learned skills like how to care for puppies and teach them tricks. They learned important elements of being part of a community and part of a team. While we’re long distance and helping in new ways for now, 4 Paws for Ability is still with us and always will be…figuratively and literally, since Gobi the service dog and Aviano the fabulous flunky call our place home.
