“She’s been everywhere.” | JD & Maggie’s Story

Retired service dog Maggie has lived a life of love alongside JD and his family after graduating from 4 Paws for Ability in November 2011. Now, as we celebrate her 15th birthday, we are sending our love to her!

JD’s mom, Bobbie, shared, “Happy 15th Birthday, Magpie! Fifteen years. I can hardly believe it.

Magpie has been part of our family for nearly JD’s entire life: his now retired service dog, constant companion, and the quiet hero behind so many milestones. From concerts to Disneyland, classrooms to comic cons, she’s helped him live a life I couldn’t have imagined for him when we first got her. He was a toddler then…barely verbal, newly diagnosed with epilepsy, and prone to eloping. She opened a whole new world for him… and for the rest of us.

As I looked through photos tonight to mark her 15th birthday, I was moved to tears. She’s not just been by JD’s side, she’s been everywhere. She’s given us so much over the years, and now it’s our turn to give her all the love and comfort she deserves in return.

Happy birthday, Maggie, aka PiePie, Magatha Cristy, Gorilla and the sweetest girl. You’re truly one in a billion, and you’ve changed our lives forever.”
