Service Dog Scrimmage Kicks Off Life-Changing Careers

    2024 Service Dog Scrimmage

Last Saturday, the Xenia Adult and Recreation Services Center echoed with joyous barks and playful energy as 4 Paws for Ability hosted its annual Service Dog Scrimmage. Sponsored by Level MB and MT Studio, this heartwarming event brought together dog lovers and supporters of the organization’s noble cause.

A litter of twelve six-week-old goldendoodles stole the show as they romped and raced across the field, competing in four thrilling games to score touchdowns by reaching the end zone first. Each puppy represented hope and potential, embodying the mission of 4 Paws for Ability to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Despite the snowy weather, the event was a resounding success, drawing in about 150 attendees who braved the cold to show their support. With over $20,000 raised, thanks to the generosity of sponsors and donors, the fundraiser surpassed expectations, providing crucial funds to further the organization’s mission.

Guests also enjoyed a halftime show featuring graduated 4 Paws for Ability service dog teams, showcasing the incredible bond between trained service dogs and their human partners.

The winning puppies, including Clipper sponsored by MSU 4 Paws, Dozer sponsored by Thomas’ Rod Shop, Clipper sponsored by The Risher Family, and Jeanne sponsored by DTB Distributors Inc, captured the hearts of all present, demonstrating the profound impact that service dogs have on the lives of those they serve.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of over 30 volunteers who selflessly gave their time and energy to ensure the event’s success. Their commitment and passion for the cause were truly inspiring, underscoring the spirit of community that lies at the heart of 4 Paws for Ability.

As we reflect on the success of the Service Dog Scrimmage, we are reminded of the incredible difference that can be made when individuals come together for a common purpose. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting the training and placement of service dogs, bringing hope and independence to those in need.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this memorable event. Your generosity and support are invaluable as we continue our mission to change lives, one paw at a time.
